This is a string Ghungroo pair with each ankle bell having about 100 brass bells. This item has high quality big brass bells on the string. Very good sound !!! There are string on each end of the Ankle Bell with which the performer need to tie the ankle bell to their ankles - not buckle type. This is suitable for adults or upper teanagers as it is heavy.

Each bells are about 14~15mm in diameter and the lenght of each string is about 36 inches. There is extra rope to tie the bells around your ankle.

Dancers use Ankle bells while performing all kinds of asian dances. Especially belly dancers and Indian Classical dancers use ankle bells for all their performances. These bells are made by attaching ghungroos (metal bells) to leather or cloth pads.

Ankle bells are known in different names in different parts of India. In Tamilnadu, it is known as Salangai and in Kerala people call it Chilanka. In north India it is commonly calles as Ghungroo. Depending upon the age of the dancer and the size of ankles, one can choose the size of the ankle bell. Usually adults prefer a 5 line or 4 line ankle bell. For tean agers and small kids, parents can choose anything between a two line and four line.

Great quality ghoonghru, but ropes are too heavy

Posted by PB, Huntley, Illinois on 22nd Jan 2016

I recently purchased the 100 bells ghoonghrus on woven ropes for my daughter, and am satisfied with the quality for the most part. The only problem is each ghoonghru weighs about 2 lbs with the ropes. It is quite difficult for an 11 year to wear them for more than half an hour.

Store response: 100+100 is usually for adults. For children, you may use 50+50

    Sounds like PRO!

I would like to express very strong recommendation for the ghungroos. The sound is robust and consistent. I took a risk of ordering them online after misplacing my ghunghroos.... would not have thought about buying one without examining a dozen more. But very impressed with the quality of sound that I got in my ghungroos. I eventually found my old favorite ghungroos but I still wear these.

Excellent customer service and prompt shipping.

    Clean, nice sound, two

With a loop on one end, these ghungroos are easier for my daughter to tie than her old, shorter strand of bells. Speedy delivery was great, too.
